How did that baby get in your tummy?

After 8 months Anna finally asked me the question I thought I was prepared to answer. "Mommy, how did that baby get in your tummy?" I had decided from the start that I was just going to tell her like it is, but when it came down to it I just couldn't. I imagined her going to playgroup or nursery school and telling all of the other kids how this happened. So I started to stutter. Something about mommy's and daddy's loving each other came out of my mouth. From that she kind of got that daddy put the baby there but how? So I stuttered some more until she finally looked at me and said "It must be magic. What does A N N A spell?" I imagine that this will come up again soon so I better get something a little more solid than stuttering nonsense. Thank goodness for 4 year old attention spans.Now she is watching TV and I hope that keeps her attention again. Oh shit, here she comes again. Now I am scared of her.
